Three men killed by trains on Chennai railway tracks including near Guindy

An unidentified man in his late 30s was killed on Saturday night, June 27, 2026, after being hit by an electric train between the Guindy and St. Thomas Mount railway stations. The fatal accident was one of three separate incidents on the Chennai railway network that night, which left three men dead.
Following the incident near Guindy, the victim's body was discovered lying near the railway track. Officers from the Mambalam Railway Police division recovered the body and subsequently sent it to the Rajiv Gandhi government hospital. The Mambalam Railway Police have initiated an investigation into the accident to identify the deceased man and establish the sequence of events.
In a second incident on the same night, the Tambaram Railway Police launched an investigation after the body of a 50-year-old man was discovered on the railway tracks. The body was found on the track bound towards Tambaram, near the Chromepet railway station. Preliminary reports from the railway police indicated that this victim was also hit by an electric train.
Meanwhile, a third fatality was reported further away at the Tiruvallur railway station on Saturday night. The Tiruvallur railway police found the body of a third unidentified man, estimated to be around 40 years old, near the station platform. The platform where the body was located is designated for mail and express trains.
The Tiruvallur railway police recovered the body of the 40-year-old man and sent it to the Tiruvallur Government hospital for a postmortem examination.
In total, the three separate train-hit incidents on Saturday night resulted in three deaths. The Government Railway Police divisions of Mambalam, Tambaram, and Tiruvallur are conducting separate investigations into the respective cases to identify the victims and determine how the accidents occurred.
