Three Former AIADMK Ministers and 10 Ex-MLAs Join TVK in Panaiyur

The political landscape in Tamil Nadu witnessed another shift as three former ministers from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and ten former Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) officially defected to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Saturday. The induction ceremony took place at the TVK party headquarters located in Panaiyur, Chennai, marking a significant development in the ongoing realignment of local political forces.
The former AIADMK ministers who made the switch are Udumalai K Radhakrishnan, Kadambur C Raju, and M C Sampath. These senior political figures, along with ten former MLAs whose identities represent a broad section of the AIADMK's former legislative presence, arrived at the Panaiyur office accompanied by a large group of their supporters to formalize their entry into the ruling party.
The defection ceremony was conducted in the presence of TVK general secretary N Anand, who welcomed the new members into the party fold. This latest group of inductions comes amid a broader, steady stream of leaders and grassroots cadres shifting their political allegiance to the TVK, a trend that has accelerated following the party's rise to power.
The exit of these prominent figures is expected to have a notable impact on the organizational framework of the AIADMK. Political analysts and party insiders suggest that the loss of Udumalai K Radhakrishnan, Kadambur C Raju, and M C Sampath will likely weaken the AIADMK's local organizational strength, particularly in the specific geographic regions where these three leaders have historically wielded considerable influence and maintained strong local networks.
Meanwhile, TVK party functionaries have expressed confidence that the momentum of defections will continue in the near future. According to party sources, more leaders from various opposition parties are expected to make the transition and join the TVK in the coming days, further bolstering the ruling party's political footprint across the state.
