Three College Students Injured as Car Crashes into Lok Bhavan Wall in Guindy

Three college students sustained injuries after their speeding car rammed into iron barricades and crashed into the compound wall of Lok Bhavan on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Road in Guindy during the early hours of Sunday.

According to police, five college students were travelling in the vehicle from Saidapet towards East Coast Road at around 1 a.m. when the accident took place. The car, driven by a 20-year-old student residing in West Mambalam, reportedly lost control while negotiating a left turn at a bend on Sardar Patel Road near Raj Bhavan.

Due to the high speed, the vehicle first crashed into iron barricades before colliding with the Lok Bhavan compound wall near the main gate. The impact damaged a portion of the wall.

The 20-year-old driver and two of his friends suffered injuries in the collision. They were immediately transported to the Saidapet Government Hospital for medical treatment. Two other students who were also inside the vehicle escaped the crash without injuries.

The Adyar traffic investigation wing registered a case and initiated an inquiry into the crash. Preliminary investigations revealed that the car belonged to the driver's mother, who works for a private automobile firm. The youth had taken the vehicle from home after telling his family that he was stepping out with friends.

Police conducted breathalyser tests on the driver, which ruled out driving under the influence of alcohol. Officers are currently verifying the driver's licence and continuing their investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
