Three Arrested in T Nagar for Murder and Robbery of 80-Year-Old Woman

The Chennai city police have arrested three persons in connection with the murder and robbery of an 80-year-old woman at her apartment on Kuppusamy Street in Pondy Bazaar, T Nagar.
The victim, Radha, wife of the late Krishnamoorthy, lived alone in the T Nagar flat. Following the arrests on Friday, police recovered approximately eight sovereigns of gold and diamond jewellery, silver articles, and ₹2,000 in cash. Officers also seized a two-wheeler used in the commission of the crime.
According to police reports, Radha's son, Ramji Yadav, had taken her to a dental clinic on August 13 and dropped her back at her home before returning to his residence in Besant Nagar. The following morning, a neighbour alerted Ramji that repeated knocks and phone calls to Radha’s residence were left unanswered.
Ramji rushed to the apartment and used a spare key to gain entry, finding his mother dead with visible injuries. Several valuables, including her gold chain, bangles, diamond earrings, gold ring, silver articles, and cash, were missing from the premises.
Based on a complaint lodged by Ramji, the Soundarapandianar Angadi police registered a case and initiated a probe.
The investigation revealed that 36-year-old Menaka, alias Ammu, who had worked as Radha’s domestic helper for the past five months, conspired with Mouli, alias Chandramouli, 26, and Manikandan, 24, to rob the elderly woman after learning that she lived alone.
