Three Arrested for Assaulting Man and Stealing Motorcycle in Singaperumal Koil

The Singaperumal Koil police have arrested three individuals, including a 17-year-old boy, for assaulting a 20-year-old man and stealing his motorcycle on GST Road near Singaperumal Koil on the Chennai-Trichy highway near Chengalpet. The incident occurred on the night of the confrontation as the victim was traveling back to his residence.
The victim has been identified by the police as Saravanan, 20, who lives in Padalam near Madhurantakam. Saravanan was employed at a textile shop. On the night of the incident, he was returning home from his workplace on his motorcycle.
According to the police, as Saravanan was riding his motorcycle along the GST Road near Singaperumal Koil, three men blocked his path and stopped his bike. The three men then assaulted Saravanan and rode away on his motorcycle, leaving him at the scene.
Following the assault, Saravanan filed a formal complaint with the Singaperumal Koil police. Acting on Saravanan's complaint, the police team initiated an investigation into the highway robbery. As part of their investigative efforts, the officers reviewed CCTV footage from cameras located in the surrounding area.
The CCTV footage helped the police identify the suspects, leading to the arrest of Rohit, 19, and Rajini, 19, who are both residents of Singaperumal Koil. The police also arrested a 17-year-old juvenile who was involved in the incident.
The arrested juvenile was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and subsequently sent to an observation home. Meanwhile, the two adult accused, Rohit and Rajini, were presented before the Chengalpet Judicial Magistrate Court, which remanded them in judicial custody.
The Singaperumal Koil police have recovered the stolen motorcycles from two of the accused. The police are continuing their search to trace and arrest an absconding accomplice who reportedly sold the stolen motorcycle.
