Three Arrested After Car Chases, Rams Two-Wheeler in Chennai, Killing 18-Year-Old

An 18-year-old woman died and a 17-year-old girl was critically injured after a group of men allegedly chased and rammed their car into a two-wheeler following an altercation at a private bar in Chennai. The police have registered a case and arrested three suspects in connection with the fatal collision.

The deceased victim has been identified as Yancy, an 18-year-old Sri Lankan refugee residing in Villupuram district. The police identified the three arrested accused as Balamurugan, 21, Joshwa, 19, and Kishore Kumar, 19.

According to police reports, the sequence of events began inside a private bar in the city where Yancy and her friends were dancing. An altercation broke out between her group and another group of young men. Bouncers at the establishment intervened and initially brought the situation under control.

However, the confrontation reignited outside the bar premises. Bouncers stepped in once again and instructed both groups to leave the venue.

Shortly after leaving, while Yancy and her companions were travelling together on a two-wheeler, they allegedly spotted the rival group travelling in a car. Police stated that Yancy's friends allegedly threw stones at the car. The occupants of the car then chased the two-wheeler and allegedly rammed into it.

The force of the impact threw Yancy off the two-wheeler, and she died on the spot. Her 17-year-old companion sustained critical injuries in the crash and was rushed to the hospital, where she remains under medical care.

Following the incident, Yancy's family demanded severe punishment for all the accused individuals. In response to the initial dispute and violations, officials have sealed the private bar for permitting minors under the age of 18 onto the premises. A special police team has been formed to search for and apprehend the remaining suspects who are on the run.
