Ten Arrested for Bike Stunts and Racing on Vadapalani 100-Feet Road

Ten people, including six juveniles, were arrested for allegedly racing motorcycles and performing stunts along the 100-feet road in Vadapalani during the early hours of Sunday. The Anna Nagar Traffic Investigation Wing (TIW) police also impounded five motorcycles used during the illegal race.
According to police officials, the group was speeding towards Koyambedu from Vadapalani when one of the racers nearly brushed against a motorcycle ridden by a man travelling with his wife and child. The commuter was forced to halt his vehicle to regain his composure following the near-miss. Video clips purportedly showing the incident have since circulated on social media platforms.
Passersby and witnesses who noticed the dangerous riding confronted the racers and thrashed them at the spot. Members of the public subsequently alerted the local authorities, prompting the Anna Nagar TIW police to arrive at the scene and take all ten individuals into custody.
Police officials noted that the group had already raced along the stretch two or three times prior to the near-collision with the commuter's motorcycle. During these earlier runs, some members of the group fell from their two-wheelers and sustained minor injuries.
Investigators revealed that the group had organised the event using a dedicated WhatsApp group to coordinate their movements. A few participants had been assigned to monitor the route beforehand to check for police deployment before the racing began.
Following preliminary inquiries, the police recorded the statement of the commuter who had been nearly struck by the racers before letting him leave. The four adult men in the group were subsequently remanded to judicial custody, while the six juveniles were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board for further proceedings.
