Taratdac Stages Agitation Demanding Higher Financial Aid for Differently-Abled

Members of the Pudukkottai district unit of the Tamil Nadu Association for the Rights of All Types of Differently-Abled and Caregivers (Taratdac) staged a drawing agitation at Pudukkottai on Tuesday, urging the state government to provide enhanced monthly financial assistance.

The demonstration was led by Taratdac town secretary V. Ramesh. Protesters demanded that the government implement a tiered monthly financial assistance structure offering Rs. 6,000, Rs. 10,000, and Rs. 15,000 to persons with disabilities based on their level of disability, similar to the assistance provided by the Andhra Pradesh government.

Speaking at the protest, Taratdac vice-president V. Maheswari called upon the government to establish Rs. 6,000 as the baseline minimum monthly financial aid for differently-abled individuals. She also urged authorities to expeditiously process and sanction monthly pensions for all eligible applicants who have submitted their paperwork.

Several association leaders took part in the agitation, including Taratdac coordinator K. Shanmugam, district secretary M. Ganesh, and vice-presidents M.C. Loganathan and G. Girija, alongside other members of the organisation.
