Tamil Nadu to Launch ₹5 Crore Super App for 500 Public Services

The Tamil Nadu government will introduce a unified mobile application titled the “Vettri Tamil Nadu Super App” to minimize the need for citizens to visit government offices in person, R. Kumar, Minister for Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology and Digital Services, announced in the Assembly on Tuesday.

The application will be implemented at an estimated cost of ₹5 crore. According to the Minister, the platform will enable the public to access 500 government services directly through their smartphones, including obtaining birth certificates, family cards (ration cards), and processing driver’s license renewals.

Alongside the mobile application, the state will establish a dedicated portal called the “Vetri Tamil Nadu Web Portal.” This platform will allow citizens to share suggestions and opinions with the government, voice their views on various state welfare schemes, and submit direct feedback regarding public services.

Mr. Kumar also outlined institutional steps under the Tamil Nadu Artificial Intelligence Mission. To guide these goals, the government will form an Artificial Intelligence Advisory Council. The council will bring together distinguished academics and industry leaders specializing in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, emerging technologies, deep tech, blockchain, cloud computing, public policy, innovation, research, and cybersecurity.

Additionally, the state government will execute the second phase of the “Tamil Nadu Cultural Digital Repository” to support researchers and the general public. The documentation initiative will cover 500 cultural sites and events across the districts of Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Kanniyakumari, and Pudukkottai at an estimated cost of ₹60 lakh.
