Tamil Nadu Signs MoUs With Four Quantum Computing Ventures at Conclave

Tamil Nadu signed four memoranda of understanding with quantum computing ventures at the Vetri Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2026 to set up research, development, and operational bases in Chennai and nearby Chengalpet.

The projects aim to establish an early presence for the state in the emerging quantum technology sector, spanning computing hardware, control technology, and hybrid systems.

Among the ventures, Quantum Integrated Machines will set up an operational base in Chengalpet and collaborate with the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research on superconducting quantum computing.

Chennai-based startup Quntrolsphere will focus on developing control hardware for quantum computing and communication applications. Additionally, TriQuanta Labs, expanding from Hyderabad and Amaravathi, will set up research and development as well as engineering operations in Chennai dedicated to hybrid quantum computing systems.

The sector requires specialised talent across disciplines including physics, mathematics, electronics, computer science, cryogenics, and semiconductor engineering. The establishment of these operations is expected to create demand for high-skilled technical jobs while generating indirect opportunities through component suppliers, start-ups, and research institutions.

Alongside the quantum projects, Aheesa Digital Innovations announced an investment of Rs. 250 crore in Chennai for the complete research, design, and ownership of Vihaan, an indigenous networking chip, which is expected to create 300 jobs.
