Tamil Nadu sets July 23 deadline for MBBS and BDS applications

The Tamil Nadu Medical Selection Committee in Chennai has fixed July 23 at 5:00 PM as the deadline for submitting completed applications for MBBS and BDS courses for the 2026-27 academic year. The committee announced the decision in an official notification issued on Friday, establishing a clear timeline for thousands of medical and dental aspirants across the state.
According to the committee, the deadline was determined after carefully considering the time required to scrutinise all submitted applications. The structured timeline will allow officials to thoroughly review the submissions, publish a detailed list of ineligible candidates, and manage a grievance-redressal window for those who are found ineligible during the scrutiny process.
The administrative process for the upcoming academic year began earlier this year when the committee published the list of documents required for undergraduate medical applications on April 28. Following this, the official application window was opened to aspirants on June 29.
The committee revealed that more than 41,000 completed applications have been received so far. Aspirants still have a brief window to apply, as the application platform will remain open for another week following the declaration of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) results on Thursday.
Once the application window closes and the scrutiny phase is completed, the next phase of the admission process will begin. The circular noted that the official timelines for undergraduate medical counselling will be released by the Directorate General of Health Services soon.
