Tamil Nadu Private Schools Ordered to Display Tuition Fee Details by June 5

CHENNAI — The Directorate of Private Schools has issued an official directive instructing all private nursery, primary, matriculation, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and other board schools in Tamil Nadu to publicly display their approved tuition fee details on notice boards on or before June 5.
The order, issued by Tamil Nadu Director of Private Schools S. Suganya, is designed to increase transparency regarding school fees and ensure that tuition fee details are publicly visible to both parents and students.
This directive comes a few days after the Tamil Nadu Information Commission ruled that a school's fee structure constitutes public information. The commission had instructed S. Suganya to ensure compliance with this transparency requirement by June 15.
Following the directorate's order, school heads and principals are now required to display the tuition fee structure fixed by the fee determination committee. These details must be made available for public viewing on school notice boards and on their respective school websites.
Additionally, private schools must print and provide class-wise tuition fee details directly within the student admission application forms.
To ensure the directive is implemented, the director has instructed all district education officers for private schools to inspect the schools within their jurisdictions. These officers must verify compliance and submit a report to the directorate.
