Tamil Nadu Outlines 2026–27 Industrial Vision With New Parks Across State

Tamil Nadu's industrial strategy for 2026–27 will concentrate on spreading industrial development across regions, generating employment, and supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises alongside women-led businesses, industries, investment promotion and commerce minister S. Keerthana announced in Chennai.

The minister stated that the state's vision focuses on converting incoming investments into tangible employment, enterprise growth, innovation, and broad-based opportunities. The plans for 2026–27 form part of a wider framework to reinforce established industrial clusters while developing fresh investment corridors in emerging areas.

As part of this regional expansion, the state government proposed several new industrial infrastructure projects, particularly in southern and emerging districts. In Thoothukudi, the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (Sipcot) will set up a new industrial park spanning approximately 2,570 acres at Mudaivaithanendal. The project is projected to draw ₹5,000 crore in investments and create roughly 20,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Thoothukudi will also host a dedicated electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing industrial park at Sillanatham. The facility is expected to attract around ₹7,000 crore in investment and generate an estimated 10,000 jobs.

Additional industrial parks have been planned in other districts. A park at Omandur in Villupuram is projected to draw ₹1,000 crore in investment and generate about 3,200 jobs. Another facility proposed at Lathuvadi in Namakkal is expected to bring in ₹1,000 crore in investment while creating roughly 3,500 jobs.

Alongside industrial site development, the strategy prioritises worker welfare infrastructure. Under phase-II at the Gangaikondan Sipcot Industrial Park, residential accommodation for more than 2,500 workers will be built at an estimated cost of ₹130 crore via a public-private partnership model. Furthermore, approximately ₹224 crore will be directed toward developing plug-and-play industrial facilities at both Gangaikondan and Thoothukudi.

Existing Sipcot parks will undergo upgrades to their social and environmental infrastructure, incorporating recycled water systems, rainwater harvesting networks, solar lighting, crèches, fire stations, and health centres. Sipcot also plans to modernise its land allocation process by launching a comprehensive digital platform that provides prospective investors with digital layout information and 3D visualisation tools for available land.
