Tamil Nadu Hikes Aavin Milk Procurement Price to Rs 44 Per Litre

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay announced a further increase in Aavin milk procurement prices on Monday in Chennai, providing financial relief to dairy farmers across the state.

The state government approved a Rs 3 per litre increase in the milk procurement price, raising it from Rs 41 to Rs 44 per litre. The move is aimed at extending crucial support to dairy farmers.

The revision follows an earlier hike announced on August 19 in the Assembly, which had raised the procurement price from Rs 38 to Rs 41 per litre.

Alongside the milk procurement price revision, a multi-crore infrastructure push spanning power, semiconductors, and logistics across the state was also announced. The major investments are intended to bolster the state's power grid, manufacturing base, and technology ecosystem.

As part of these initiatives, Rs 33,066 crore has been earmarked for the Tamil Nadu Transmission Improvement Scheme. Under this scheme, 196 new substations will be established and 15,000 km of power transmission lines will be laid across the state.

Additionally, a 1,600 MW Super Critical Thermal Power Station will be set up in Tuticorin. The power generation project will be executed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, involving an investment of Rs 20,800 crore.
