Tamil Nadu Doctors' Body Demands Surgical Castration for Convicted Sexual Predators

In a major policy demand reported from Chennai, the Tenkasi association of government doctors has called on the Tamil Nadu government to enact legislation mandating the surgical removal of the genitalia of men convicted of sexually assaulting and murdering women and children.
The Tenkasi district unit of the association officially passed a special resolution during its general body meeting. The resolution urges state lawmakers to consider both total penilectomy and chemical or surgical castration as severe punishments to be legally imposed alongside court verdicts in such criminal cases.
The special resolution was moved under the chairmanship of Dr. R. Jeslin, who serves as the district secretary for the Tenkasi unit and also holds the position of the association's state secretary (DMS).
The association cited the severe psychological toll of post-mortem examinations as the primary driving motivation for this demand. According to the resolution, government doctors who are tasked with conducting autopsies on the victims of sexual assault and murder suffer unspeakable grief and severe mental distress.
The doctors' body declared that the proposed medical and legal punishments are an urgent necessity for the times to serve as a deterrent. The association has formally demanded that the state government enact strong legislation to address these crimes.
