Tambaram Police Launch 'Tambaram What'sCop' AI WhatsApp Chatbot

Tambaram City Police have launched an AI-powered WhatsApp chatbot, titled ‘Tambaram What’sCop’, to provide multiple police services and significantly improve citizen access to emergency assistance across Tambaram. According to an official press release, the new platform serves as a multi-functional interface designed to make reaching out to law enforcement faster and more direct for the public.

The chatbot service is fully operational in both Tamil and English, allowing users to choose their preferred language. Citizens wishing to use the service can initiate a conversation by sending the message “hi” to 9344-222-100 on WhatsApp. The service can also be accessed immediately by scanning the QR code officially issued by the Tambaram City Police.

A primary function of the ‘Tambaram What’sCop’ platform is its emergency support system, which allows citizens to share their live location directly with police personnel during critical situations. To enhance safety for commuters, the bot incorporates a specialized ‘Track My Journey’ feature intended for women travelling alone. Passengers can register their journey details into the system and request police assistance if they encounter unexpected deviations or unusual delays along their route.

In addition to emergency features, the chatbot provides a secure mechanism for community intelligence. Citizens can anonymously share information regarding illegal activities through the platform, ensuring that confidential reports reach law enforcement without exposing the informant's identity.

The automated system further assists residents with essential administrative and online services. Users can utilize the chatbot to find the location of their nearest police station. It also connects citizens directly to online portals where they can register cybercrime complaints and trace lost or stolen mobile phones through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal.

Following the launch, the police department issued a widespread appeal encouraging residents to make full use of the digital platform. The Tambaram City Police specifically urged women, students, parents, educational institutions, resident welfare associations, and members of the general public to adopt the service for emergency and routine police support.
