Tambaram Corporation to Build ₹40-Crore Sports Arena Near Maduravoyal Bypass

The Tambaram Corporation has announced plans to build a brand new, modern sports arena near the Tambaram-Maduravoyal Bypass. The project, which is estimated to cost ₹40 crore, will be developed on a nine-acre plot of land that has been acquired by the local municipal corporation. Once completed, the facility is expected to stand as one of the largest public sports complexes in the city.
According to corporation officials, the upcoming arena is designed to serve as a major hub for local athletes and residents. The development plans include a diverse range of sports facilities to accommodate multiple disciplines. Among the key features of the proposed complex is a full-sized football turf, which will be built alongside dedicated spectator galleries.
In addition to the football field, the complex will feature a dedicated track-and-field arena for athletics. Racquet and court sports are also heavily represented in the plan, with professional tennis courts, badminton courts, volleyball courts, and pickleball courts set to be constructed.
For water sports and other fitness activities, the arena will house a modern swimming pool, a dedicated skating track, and a fully equipped gymnasium. The corporation has also planned amenities for leisure and families, including a children’s play area and landscaped walking spaces throughout the complex.
With a planned seating capacity of 4,000, the new sports arena will have the infrastructure required to host district-level and state-level sporting tournaments. Local administration officials highlighted that the primary objective of this ₹40-crore project is to promote sports, fitness, and recreation among the local residents of the region.
