Tambaram Begins Census 2027 Self-Enumeration Ahead Of Door-To-Door Survey

The Tambaram City Municipal Corporation has officially commenced the self-enumeration process for the first phase of the Census of India 2027, enabling residents to digitally submit their household information. Tambaram Commissioner and Principal Census Officer S Balachander announced that the self-enumeration window will remain open from July 17 to July 31, preceding a comprehensive door-to-door physical survey.

Under this initiative, local residents within the corporation limits can access the official Census portal via their mobile phones or computers to input their family details. Once the online submission is completed successfully, the portal will generate an 11-digit Self Enumeration (SE) ID, which will be sent to the resident via SMS or email. Residents are required to preserve this ID and present it to census officials during the field verification stage.

Following the self-enumeration period, the physical verification and door-to-door survey will be carried out from August 1 to August 30. To facilitate this massive exercise, the Tambaram City Municipal Corporation has divided the locality into 1,483 house-listing blocks. Each of these blocks is designed to cover approximately 150 to 200 houses, ensuring systematic coverage of the entire municipal area.

A dedicated workforce has been mobilized for the field operations. The corporation has deployed 1,483 enumerators and 243 supervisors who will visit every house and building across the Tambaram municipal limits during the month-long drive.

Commissioner Balachander has appealed to all residents to extend their full cooperation to the visiting census staff. He also issued a stern warning regarding compliance, noting that providing false information, obstructing census officials from carrying out their duties, or tampering with official census markings on buildings are serious offences that are punishable under the law.

This initial house-listing phase lays the groundwork for the second phase of the Census of India 2027. The final population census is scheduled to be conducted in February 2027.
