Tambaram ACP Driver Killed by Sewage Lorry Near Sholinganallur Junction

A 48-year-old policeman was fatally knocked down by a sewage lorry near the Sholinganallur junction on Rajiv Gandhi Salai in Chennai on Sunday, June 28, 2026. The victim, who was riding his two-wheeler at the time of the collision, died on the spot.
The deceased police officer was identified as Jaiganesh. He was employed as a car driver for Tambaram Assistant Police Commissioner Vaishnavi. The fatal accident occurred while Jaiganesh was commuting from his house to the residence of Assistant Police Commissioner Vaishnavi, which is located on Rajiv Gandhi Salai.
According to the police, Jaiganesh was proceeding along Rajiv Gandhi Salai on his two-wheeler on Sunday. As he neared the Sholinganallur junction, a sewage lorry traveling behind him collided with his two-wheeler. The impact of the crash was severe, causing Jaiganesh to suffer critical head injuries. He passed away at the scene of the accident before he could be taken for medical treatment.
The Pallikaranai Traffic Investigation wing responded to the incident and initiated an inquiry. Officers from the investigation wing recovered the body of the deceased policeman and sent it to the Chromepet Government Hospital, where a post-mortem examination was scheduled to be conducted.
Following their initial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision, the Pallikaranai Traffic Investigation wing registered a formal case. The driver of the sewage lorry was subsequently arrested by the police for causing the accident that led to the death of the policeman.
