Sundeep Kishan's 'Sigma' Opens to Mixed Reviews for Director Jason Sanjay

Sundeep Kishan's 'Sigma' Opens to Mixed Reviews for Director Jason Sanjay

The feature film 'Sigma', starring Sundeep Kishan and Faria Abdullah, has opened in theatres, drawing divided reactions from early audiences. The project marks the directorial debut of Jason Sanjay, the son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay.

Early viewers taking to social media platform X offered contrasting impressions of the release. While lead actor Sundeep Kishan drew praise for his performance in both comedic and action scenes, the overall directorial execution by Jason Sanjay received a mixed reception from moviegoers.

Highlighting the film's lighter moments, one viewer commended the performances and the theatre atmosphere, posting: "#Sigma comedy works out well theaters erupts, cast are perfect. Sandeep Kishan hilarious nice characterization".

Other viewers were far more critical of the movie's storytelling and presentation. Calling the project an outdated effort for a newcomer, one review on X noted: "#Sigma Review: Young Director’s Outdated Borefest It’s hard to believe a young filmmaker like #JasonSanjay chose #Sigma for his directorial debut."

The same critique took issue with the narrative choices and structure, stating: "There is not an iota of freshness here. From the illogical villains to the dated fights and the abrupt item song, everything feels two decades old. Even the formula feels exhausting, with not on".

The initial reception leaves the film with a split verdict as its theatrical run begins, balancing positive remarks for Kishan's screen presence against critiques targeting the film's writing and direction.
