Students, Driver Injured After Truck Hits International School Bus Near Sholavaram

Several students and their bus driver sustained minor injuries after a private school bus collided with a trailer truck near Janappanchatram Junction, past Sholavaram in Tiruvallur district, on Monday.

The accident took place while the students of a private international school in Ponneri were being transported from the airport to their campus following their return from their home countries. The students aboard the bus belonged to various nationalities.

The collision occurred when the bus and the container truck were allegedly attempting to overtake each other near the junction. The impact shattered the front windshield of the bus and extensively damaged the windows and metal framework along its right side, with part of the container truck entering the passenger seating area.

The students and the driver suffered minor abrasions in the incident. The school management arranged a replacement bus to transport the injured individuals to a private hospital for medical care.

Officers from the Red Hills Traffic Investigation Wing reached the scene after being alerted about the accident and have initiated an inquiry into the incident.
