Stalin Urges DMK Cadres to Win Back Youth and Women, Promises Comeback

DMK president M K Stalin on Saturday urged party members to regain the confidence of young people and women while continuing to work for the public from the opposition benches. Addressing the party’s executive committee meeting in Chennai, Stalin expressed confidence in the party's resilience, stating that the DMK specialises in making comebacks.

Stalin criticised senior party functionaries for failing to nurture cadres and emerging leaders, cautioning that the organisation would struggle to expand in the districts if young members were not encouraged and guided. He pointed out that some functionaries appeared welcoming toward opposition members while neglecting their own cadres, warning against tendencies to prevent newcomers from rising through the ranks.

Stalin noted that a district cannot be strengthened by relying entirely on a single district secretary, just as an Assembly constituency cannot be secured solely on the strength of its MLA. He emphasised that an organisation shows its strength when senior members actively welcome and mentor younger individuals joining the party ranks.

Reflecting on recent electoral setbacks, Stalin stated that internal shortcomings among party functionaries contributed to the defeat. He stressed that the DMK must openly acknowledge its mistakes rather than attributing political challenges entirely to external factors.
