Schools Closed in Gudalur and Pandalur as Heavy Rain Batters Nilgiris

Schools in the Gudalur and Pandalur taluks of the Nilgiris district were closed on Tuesday following heavy rainfall in the region.
The Nilgiris District Collector announced a one-day holiday for schools in the two affected taluks. This decision was made due to the adverse weather conditions and to ensure the safety of school students.
Heavy rain has continued to batter parts of the Nilgiris since Monday. Gudalur and Pandalur have emerged as the worst-affected areas in the district, prompting the local administration to declare the school holiday.
According to reports from weather agencies, a trough extending from south Gujarat to north Kerala at mean sea level is currently active. This system is expected to bring light to moderate rainfall at isolated places over the Western Ghats districts, with the rain forecast expected to continue until July 12.
In addition to the heavy showers in the Western Ghats, light rain is also likely at isolated places across the rest of Tamil Nadu, as well as in Puducherry and Karaikal.
