Sathyavani Muthu Pond in Sholinganallur Restored Ahead of Monsoon

The Sathyavani Muthu Pond in Sholinganallur has been restored through a collaborative initiative between the Greater Chennai Corporation and the Environmental Foundation of India, completed ahead of the upcoming monsoon.

Prior to the intervention, the urban waterbody had deteriorated severely. The pond was choked with heavy accumulations of invasive weeds, silt, and garbage, which had degraded the water and compromised the area's natural drainage.

The cleanup and revival efforts were undertaken as part of ongoing measures to rehabilitate urban waterbodies across the city. The project aims to bolster Chennai's blue-green infrastructure and improve ecological resilience before the onset of monsoon rains.
