Protesters Block Road in T Nagar Over Student's Death, 30 Detained

Traffic was disrupted in T Nagar on Friday after the parents and relatives of a 17-year-old student staged a road blockade, leading to the detention of over 30 protesters by the Mambalam police.

The demonstration was held over the death of the Class 12 student, who died after collapsing while playing football at his school in T Nagar two months ago.

The family members and relatives gathered to protest what they alleged was a delay on the part of the police in taking action against the school management in connection with the incident.

The road blockade brought vehicular movement to a halt in the neighbourhood. Following the disruption, Mambalam police personnel intervened and detained more than 30 of the protesters.

Police officials later released all the detained protesters on Friday evening.
