Pregnant Woman Murdered in Guduvanchery, Body Found in Suitcase at Agra

The dismembered body of a 38-year-old pregnant woman, who was murdered at a rented residence in Guduvanchery on the outskirts of Chennai, was discovered inside an unclaimed suitcase at Agra Cantonment railway station, nearly 2,000 kilometres away.

Police identified the victim as Hayathun Nisha, a native of Odisha, who lived in a rented house on Mosque Street in Guduvanchery. Investigators stated that she was murdered earlier this month by her lover after she refused to terminate her pregnancy and repeatedly pressured him to marry her.

According to investigators, the accused took steps to conceal the crime and prevent the victim's identification. After killing her, the accused shaved her head and smashed it. The victim's body was then dismembered and packed inside a red suitcase before being loaded onto a long-distance train.

The suitcase was placed inside the general compartment of the Tamil Nadu Express, which departed Chennai Central on August 3 on its route towards New Delhi.

The crime came to light on August 5, two days after the train departed Chennai, when railway police personnel carried out checks on the train at Agra Cantonment railway station. Officers noticed the red suitcase sitting unclaimed in the compartment and opened it, discovering the human remains inside.

Because the train had originated in Chennai, railway and local police launched an investigation focused on the starting point of the journey. Investigators examined CCTV camera footage recorded at Chennai Central as well as other railway stations along the route.

The surveillance footage showed a man and a woman carrying the suitcase into the station. That footage provided the primary lead that allowed police to track the suspects' movements back to the rented house on Mosque Street in Guduvanchery.
