Police probe launched after male torso found in suitcase at Perambur railway station

The Government Railway Police and the Greater Chennai Police have formed eight special teams to investigate the recovery of a male torso from an abandoned suitcase at the Perambur railway station in Chennai.
The discovery of the body, which was found without its head or limbs, has triggered an active and ongoing police probe. The victim's remains were found stuffed inside a blue suitcase that had been left on a staircase at the rear exit of the railway station.
Despite extensive efforts by the authorities, investigators have not yet been able to identify the victim or trace the individuals responsible for the crime.
As part of the investigation, the Otteri police collected footage from more than 50 CCTV cameras in the surrounding areas to trace the movements of potential suspects. However, police officials noted that there were no cameras installed near the staircase where the suitcase had been left, complicating efforts to identify who placed it there.
The lack of identifying body parts, such as the head and limbs, has further hindered the identification process.
To aid in the investigation, nearby police stations and railway police units have been instructed to keep a lookout for any missing men aged around 35 who have been reported within their respective jurisdictions.
Investigators have also reached out to the State Crime Records Bureau to obtain details of missing persons cases registered since last week.
According to officials, they have not yet received any information that links the recovered torso to any reported disappearance. The police investigation is continuing as teams work to find clues.
