Police Hunt Duo After Dismembered Body Left in Tamil Nadu Express

The police have launched a search for a man and a woman who boarded a suburban train bound for Tambaram after allegedly leaving a trolley bag containing a dismembered body aboard the Tamil Nadu Express at Chennai Central station.
The chopped body parts, comprising limbs and a portion of the torso, were discovered by the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Agra on August 6. The trolley had been placed inside an unreserved compartment of the train on August 4 before it departed Chennai. Passengers alerted authorities around 3 am when the train reached Agra Cantonment railway station after noticing a foul stench and blood oozing from the bag.
Investigators in Uttar Pradesh linked the crime back to Chennai after examining the plastic covers used to wrap the severed body parts. The packaging bore the name of a prominent textile shop in Chennai, prompting Agra GRP officers to travel south to follow up on the clue.
Following the alert, police in Chennai reviewed extensive CCTV footage to trace the luggage. The recordings captured a man and a woman entering Chennai Central station carrying a trolley matching the specifications of the one recovered in Agra. The duo placed the bag inside the unreserved coach and stepped off the train before it departed. Surveillance cameras recorded them leaving the station without the trolley.
The suspects were subsequently seen walking toward the nearby Chennai Park railway station, where they boarded a suburban train heading towards Tambaram. The railway police are tracking their movements and examining footage from various stations along the suburban route to identify where the pair got down and determine their identities.
Neither the identities of the two suspects nor that of the victim have been established. Chennai railway police officials have sought detailed case records, photographs of the deceased, and other evidence from investigators in Agra to help identify the victim and reconstruct the sequence of events.
Police teams across Chennai and surrounding suburban jurisdictions are also reviewing recent missing persons complaints to verify if any match the deceased victim.
