Police Computer Operator Arrested for Harassing Woman Constable in Tiruvallur

A 32-year-old police computer operator was arrested in Tiruvallur for repeatedly harassing a woman constable after she rejected his romantic advances, according to police officials.

The accused has been identified as Ramkumar, a resident of Tiruttani. He was employed as a computer operator at the Pallipattu police station. Police noted that Ramkumar had secured his position in the department on compassionate grounds following his father's service in the police force.

According to investigators, Ramkumar was pursuing a relationship with a woman constable stationed as a receptionist at the Podatturpet police station. The woman constable had explicitly turned down his advances and made it clear to him that she was not interested in entering into a relationship. Despite her clear refusal, Ramkumar continued to pursue and harass her.

The persistent harassment escalated further when the woman constable was travelling on her two-wheeler to attend an official meeting for police personnel organised at the district superintendent of police’s office. During her journey, Ramkumar followed her in a car and intercepted her, continuously pressuring her to accept his marriage and relationship proposal.

The woman constable managed to escape from the situation and proceeded directly to the district superintendent of police’s office. Upon reaching the premises, she immediately reported the stalking and harassment incident to the authorities.

Acting on her formal complaint, the police registered a case against the accused. Ramkumar was subsequently arrested by the police.
