OTA Unveils Army Recruitment Display at OTA-Nanganallur Road Metro Station

The Officers Training Academy (OTA) Chennai has launched a new recruitment and public outreach campaign within the city's rapid transit network. On Saturday, a permanent publicity display was officially unveiled at the OTA-Nanganallur Road Metro Station to familiarise daily commuters with the military institution's legacy and the various officer entry schemes available in the Indian Army.

The installation was unveiled by Lt Gen Michael AJ Fernandez, the commandant of the OTA. The primary objective of this permanent display is to spread public awareness about the academy, which is recognized as one of the premier military training institutions in India. Through this outreach, the Indian Army aims to encourage young Chennai residents and commuters to consider pursuing careers as commissioned officers.

The unveiling ceremony at the OTA-Nanganallur Road Metro Station saw the participation of several senior military officers and metro transit officials. Key attendees from the Indian Army included Maj Gen S Murugesan, the deputy commandant of the OTA, and Maj Gen R M Srinivas, who serves as the Chief of Staff for the Headquarters Dakshin Bharat Area. Chennai Metro Rail Ltd was represented at the event by its Director of Finance, Krishnamoorthy, along with other transit officials.

In tandem with the launch of the military publicity display, Chennai Metro Rail Ltd also commissioned upgraded public amenities at other major transit hubs on Saturday. Refurbished restrooms were officially opened for public use at the Central Metro Station. Additionally, a similarly upgraded restroom facility was commissioned at the Meenambakkam Metro Station on the same day, enhancing the overall commuting experience for passengers across the metro network.
