Nirmalkumar Accuses DMK of Open Alliance with BJP to Protect Leaders

Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat in Chennai on Friday, Minister for Energy and Law R Nirmalkumar launched an attack on the DMK, alleging that the party's covert understanding with the BJP has transformed into an open alliance.

Nirmalkumar accused the opposition party of compromising its political stand to shield its leaders and protect their alleged ill-gotten wealth from prosecution. He asserted that the DMK was historically the first party to provide political legitimacy to the BJP in Tamil Nadu.

Drawing parallels with political developments from 2001, the minister claimed that the DMK, now out of power, has acted like a bonded labourer for the BJP to save its looted money.

The minister also raised questions over DMK MP Kanimozhi's participation in the Speaker's tea gathering in Parliament, asking if it was necessary for her to attend the gathering merely to raise seating arrangements.

Furthermore, Nirmalkumar demanded clarity from the DMK leadership on its stance regarding the delimitation process. He pointed out that while the DMK supported the anti-delimitation resolution in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, the party has not openly stated that it will vote against the proposed Delimitation Bill in Parliament.
