Motorcyclist Killed in Truck Collision on Vandalur-Walajabad Road, Driver Arrested
A 39-year-old motorcyclist was killed on the spot early Saturday morning after his two-wheeler was struck by a truck on Vandalur-Walajabad Road in Chengalpet district. The fatal collision occurred near Bhajanai Koil Street in Vandalur.
The deceased rider has been identified as Sathishkumar, 39, a resident of Railway Station Road in Vandalur. According to police reports, Sathishkumar was riding his motorcycle along Bhajanai Koil Street early on Saturday morning when the truck hit his vehicle. The impact resulted in fatal injuries, and he died at the scene.
Officers from the Tambaram traffic investigation police arrived at the location shortly after the collision occurred. The police personnel recovered the body from the crash site and subsequently sent the remains to the Tambaram Government Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Following the incident, police arrested the truck driver, identified as 34-year-old Minal, a native of Assam, in connection with the fatal crash. The Tambaram traffic investigation police have initiated an official investigation into the collision.
The fatal collision in Vandalur was one of two separate road accidents reported across Tiruvallur and Chengalpet districts on Saturday morning, which resulted in two fatalities.
In the other incident reported in Tiruvallur district, a 64-year-old pedestrian was killed after being struck by a two-wheeler. The deceased was identified by police as Muniyammal, 64, a resident of Melapudi Colony near Pallipattu.
Police stated that Muniyammal was on her way to work on Saturday morning and was crossing Pallipattu Road near Vanivilasapuram Colony when the incident occurred. A speeding motorcycle heading from the direction of Podaturpet towards Pallipattu knocked her down, causing critical injuries.
Following the collision, Muniyammal was initially taken to the Podaturpet Government Hospital for medical attention. She was later shifted to the Tiruttani District Government Hospital, where she died without responding to treatment. The Podaturpet police have registered a case and are investigating that incident.
