Moon Viewing Session Held at Ariyalur Fossil Museum in Varanavasi

A special viewing of the moon and astronomical events was organised at the Ariyalur Fossil Museum in Varanavasi near Ariyalur on Friday night. The event was held between 7 PM and 9 PM to encourage interest in science and space observation among local residents.

The district administration conducted the initiative in collaboration with the Thanjavur Astronomy and Science Society, which provided the telescope equipment for the public observation session. Organisers noted that the main objective of the event was to spark curiosity and build an interest in astronomy and science among children and members of the general public.

Key district officials attended the event, including District Collector N. Mirunalini, Ariyalur Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) Premi, and Chief Educational Officer Renugopal.

Participants observed the moon and other celestial phenomena through the telescope set up at the museum premises during the two-hour night session.
