Minister Sengottaiyan Launches Rs 12.95 Crore Welfare Projects In Gobichettipalayam

On Saturday, Revenue Minister K A Sengottaiyan launched multi-crore welfare projects in Gobichettipalayam, Erode district, and claimed that Tamil Nadu is currently experiencing a "golden era" under the leadership of Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay. The minister inaugurated welfare initiatives valued at Rs 12.95 crore during his visit to the region.
Speaking to reporters following the launch event, Sengottaiyan stated that the state government has been operating on the lines of a five-year plan. He explained that this systematic approach involves conducting detailed reviews and holding sector-specific meetings to ensure progress. According to the minister, the Vijay-led administration plans and executes daily welfare initiatives across all government departments.
Sengottaiyan highlighted the Chief Minister's recent directive to form an expert panel to study the impact of El Niño on regional rainfall patterns. He described the formation of this committee as an unprecedented step in India. The panel is tasked with conducting a detailed analysis of rainfall trends and recommending necessary precautionary measures to the state.
The minister also addressed the state's policy on alcohol, reiterating the government's long-term commitment to implementing a complete liquor ban. He stated that liquor shops situated near schools and temples are actively being closed down in response to public demand. Sengottaiyan praised this development, calling the closures a historic achievement because they have been successfully carried out without any public protests.
Furthermore, Sengottaiyan provided updates on the state's women's welfare programs, specifically regarding the women's rights allowance. He confirmed that applications for this allowance are now being received through online channels. The submitted applications will undergo a thorough scrutiny process to guarantee that only eligible beneficiaries are selected for the scheme.
