Minister N Anand Reviews Monsoon Flood Preparedness in T Nagar

Rural Development and Water Resources Minister N Anand chaired a review meeting on northeast monsoon flood preparedness in T Nagar on Tuesday. The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has intensified precautionary and flood-mitigation measures, directing officials to prepare stormwater infrastructure to handle heavy rainfall and minimise disruption to residents.

During the meeting, Minister Anand instructed officials to identify vulnerable and waterlogging-prone locations in advance. Directives were issued to desilt and repair stormwater drains, clear blockages in waterways, and ensure the quick evacuation of rainwater from low-lying areas.

Arrangements to guarantee an uninterrupted drinking water supply during the rainy season were also reviewed. Disaster-response teams equipped with necessary rescue equipment have been instructed to remain ready for rapid deployment during emergencies.

Officials were further instructed to take precautionary measures concerning electric wires and electrical equipment, and to repair potholes on roads promptly to ensure public safety throughout the monsoon. GCC Central Region Deputy Commissioner HR Kaushik and senior government officials also participated in the review meeting.
