Minister KA Sengottaiyan Inaugurates Upgraded Bougainvillea Park in Anna Nagar

On Monday, Revenue Minister KA Sengottaiyan officially inaugurated the upgraded Bougainvillea Park in Anna Nagar, Chennai. The park's extensive renovation was completed by the Greater Chennai Corporation at a total cost of Rs 2.95 crore, aiming to provide improved recreational facilities for the local community.
The upgraded public park spans an expansive area of 12,800 square meters. As part of its green infrastructure, the park now houses more than 1,350 trees and plants representing over 30 distinct species, contributing to the local environment.
Among the major upgrades is a newly laid 17,000-square-foot walking track designed for daily walkers and joggers. To ensure safety and visibility during evening hours, the Greater Chennai Corporation has installed 44 decorative light fixtures throughout the park premises.
For fitness enthusiasts, the park features a modern outdoor fitness space alongside a dedicated meditation centre for quiet contemplation. Families visiting the park can utilize a children's play area, which has been equipped with more than 10 different play equipment.
The renovation also focused on visitor comfort, adding over 50 seating arrangements and three pergolas to provide shaded resting areas. The park's infrastructure includes newly built toilets designed to accommodate men, women, and persons with disabilities.
To maintain the landscape, an automated irrigation system featuring 120 sprinklers has been set up across the park. A central fountain has also been installed as part of the new aesthetic features.
Following the formal inauguration ceremony, Minister Sengottaiyan planted a tree sapling on the grounds and personally inspected the newly added amenities. According to an official release, the minister instructed corporation officials to ensure the proper and regular maintenance of the park, which is expected to see a daily footfall of around 500 visitors.
