Minister A Rajmohan Criticizes DMK Mouthpiece Over Attacks on CPM Leader P Shanmugam

On Friday, School Education Minister A Rajmohan strongly criticized the DMK's mouthpiece in Chennai for publishing a series of articles targeting CPM State Secretary P Shanmugam. The minister's comments have highlighted growing political friction and shifting alignments among the DMK, CPM, TVK, and VCK parties in Tamil Nadu.
Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Rajmohan described the campaign against the veteran communist leader as unacceptable and deeply uncalled for. He emphasized that Shanmugam has spent decades fighting for the rights and welfare of the working class. Rajmohan further stated that if the late DMK leader M Karunanidhi were alive today, he would have disapproved of the mouthpiece's campaign.
The dispute arose after the DMK's mouthpiece, Murasoli, published a two-part series slamming Shanmugam. The articles criticized the CPM leader for extending support to TVK leader C Joseph Vijay to form the government. In a strong rebuttal, the CPM's own mouthpiece, Theekathir, equated the principal opposition party in the Tamil Nadu assembly to the BJP and the AIADMK, declaring that there is no difference between them.
The political verbal dispute expanded as TVK MLA VNS Mustafa came to the defense of the CPM. Mustafa questioned why VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan has failed to challenge DMK members for ridiculing TVK leader and Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay both inside and outside the Legislative Assembly.
Mustafa’s remarks were a direct response to Thirumavalavan’s recent criticism of Vijay’s assembly speech and hand gestures. The VCK leader had previously slammed Vijay for using a parable that ridiculed the former chief minister and DMK chief M K Stalin’s electoral defeat during his reply to the motion of thanks to the Governor’s speech.
