Discrepancies have been reported in the income details declared by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) candidate Maragatham Kumaravel between election affidavits submitted in April and October ahead of the upcoming Madurantakam Assembly by-election in Chengalpattu district.

The variations between the two official filings came to light on October 6, 2026, bringing scrutiny to the candidate's financial transparency and statutory disclosure declarations ahead of the vote.

The findings follow an election campaign rally held in the constituency on Friday, October 2, 2026. During the event, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK president Joseph Vijay appeared in Chengalpattu district to canvas support for Kumaravel's candidacy in the assembly by-poll.
