Man Arrested in Mylapore for Stealing Valuables from Actor Varun's Car

The Mylapore police on Sunday arrested a 49-year-old man for allegedly breaking into actor Varun’s car using a duplicate key and stealing diamond and gold jewellery, a laptop, and a wristwatch in Mylapore.

The suspect has been identified by investigators as Jalaluddin, a resident of Washermanpet. Following his arrest, police recovered a portion of the stolen valuables from his possession.

According to police officials, the incident occurred last month when actor Varun travelled to Mylapore to attend a wedding. The actor parked his vehicle on the roadside near the venue before heading inside for the function.

When Varun returned to his vehicle after the event had concluded, he discovered that the car door was open. Upon checking the interior, he found that several valuable personal belongings were missing, including a gold chain, diamond jewellery, a laptop, and an expensive wristwatch. Police stated that the stolen items were collectively worth several lakhs of rupees.

Following the discovery of the theft, Varun approached the Mylapore police and lodged a formal complaint. Officers launched an investigation and collected CCTV footage recorded in and around the roadside area where the car had been parked.

After reviewing the footage, investigators were able to identify the suspect as Jalaluddin. He was subsequently tracked down and apprehended on Sunday.

During the course of their investigation, police found that Jalaluddin had a prior history of using duplicate keys to gain access to parked cars. Officials noted that he was previously involved in similar crime cases reported across the city.
