Man Arrested in Manipur for Dismembering Woman in Guduvanchery, Brought to Tambaram

Police have arrested a 22-year-old man and his wife in Manipur in connection with the murder of a 38-year-old woman at her rented house in Guduvanchery. The suspects were brought to Tambaram on Sunday following their apprehension.

The Guduvanchery police arrested the accused, identified as Manik Uddin Laskar, 22, and his wife Bhagabati Majhi, at Kashimpur in the Jiribam district of Manipur on Saturday. They were detained over the killing of Hayathun Nisha, a native of Odisha.

According to police sources, investigation revealed that Nisha was killed after repeatedly pressuring Laskar to marry her. During interrogation, Laskar reportedly told investigators that he had been in a relationship with Nisha for around six months. Frequent arguments over her demand for marriage led to severe frustration, culminating in the murder at Nisha's residence in Guduvanchery.

Investigators stated that Laskar allegedly killed Nisha, shaved her head, and dismembered her body. Part of the victim's remains was packed inside a red trolley bag and placed in an unreserved coach of the Tamil Nadu Express, where it was discovered after the train arrived in Agra on August 5.

Following the discovery on the train, police conducted further searches and subsequently recovered remaining body parts from a large cooking vessel inside Nisha's rented house in Guduvanchery.

Both Laskar and his wife were escorted back to Tambaram by the investigating team as legal proceedings continue.
