Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal Assumes Charge As Tamil Nadu DGP

Senior IPS officer Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal officially assumed charge as the Director General of Police (DGP) and Head of the Police Force (HoPF) of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. Immediately after taking over the state's top police post, the new DGP issued a key directive instructing the police force to conduct public grievance sessions twice every week to address community concerns.

Aggarwal took charge of the Tamil Nadu police force following his repatriation from central deputation. His return to the state administration marks a significant transition in the leadership of the law enforcement department.

Upon officially assuming his new role, Aggarwal outlined the primary areas of focus for the police force under his administration. He stated that the Tamil Nadu police would place a strong emphasis on ensuring the safety and security of women and children across the state.

In addition to protecting vulnerable groups, the new DGP emphasized the critical importance of strengthening actions against narcotics offences. He highlighted that curbing drug-related crimes would be a key objective for the police department moving forward.

Aggarwal also stressed the essential duty of maintaining law and order throughout Tamil Nadu. The directive to hold public grievance sessions twice a week is aimed at addressing public grievances and issues more frequently and efficiently, ensuring direct communication between the public and law enforcement.

With these new directives, the Tamil Nadu police force will focus on implementing the DGP's core priorities: maintaining law and order, tackling narcotics, protecting women and children, and resolving public grievances on a bi-weekly basis.
