Maduravoyal Police Arrest 22-Year-Old for Bike Thefts in Chennai

CHENNAI — The Maduravoyal police have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the theft of sports motorcycles and recovered a stolen bike from his possession.

The arrest followed a complaint lodged by 23-year-old Tharun, a resident of Alapakkam. According to police, Tharun had parked his motorcycle outside his residence on July 22 before traveling out of the city. Upon returning on July 25, he discovered that his vehicle was missing and subsequently approached the local police.

Following the complaint, a police team launched an investigation to trace the vehicle. On Wednesday, the team tracked down and arrested the suspect, identified as Karthikeyan, a daily-wage labourer residing in Kadambathur in Tiruvallur district. The motorcycle stolen from Alapakkam was recovered from his possession.

During interrogation, investigators discovered that Karthikeyan had previously stolen two similar sports bikes from the Maduravoyal area in February and June.

Police said that Karthikeyan has a history of criminal offences, with four previous cases registered against him in Tiruvallur and Vellore districts. These prior charges include attempt to murder, theft, and robbery.

Following his arrest and the recovery of the motorcycle, Karthikeyan was produced before a local court and remanded in judicial custody.
