Made of Chennai Food and Music Festival to Take Place at YMCA Nandanam on August 29

The month-long Made of Chennai celebrations will conclude with a Food and Music Festival at the YMCA grounds in Nandanam on August 29, featuring live performances, diverse food stalls, and entertainment.

Music will take centrestage with performances by singer Chinmayi Sripada, Paal Dabba, Antony Dassan, Vihara, and Makka bands. Each act brings a distinct musical style shaped by Chennai's cultural landscape.

Singer Chinmayi is scheduled to perform several of her recent hits, including 'Neelothi', 'Eppadi Vandhaayo', and 'Muththa Mazhai'. Reflecting on her journey, she noted that the city has seen both her breakthroughs and turbulent times, identifying the Kolavalli Amman temple and Kapaleeshwara temple as meaningful personal sanctuaries.

Fusion band Vihara, which blends Carnatic music with retro songs, rock, blues, and funk, plans to perform renditions of familiar Ilaiyaraaja and AR Rahman tracks alongside original independent compositions. The band Makka, whose three members were raised in Chennai with ties to the Kodambakkam studio circuit, will also perform, with vocalist and ukulele player Ranjith Govind noting the city's role in their musical journey.

The festival will feature food brands including Ciclo Café, Oye Hoye, Batter Ice Cream, Ricky’s Cookies, and Bien Butter. Organisers will also host a recreation of the Mannady Ramzan street food experience.

Attendees can enter the venue through YMCA Gate 1 or the SPIC Ground entrance on Chamiers Road. Limited vehicle parking will be available at the SPIC Ground, the Hockey Ground at YMCA, and Nandanam Arts College. Visitors are encouraged to use the Chennai Metro to avoid congestion and to carry cash in the event of network disruptions in crowded areas.
