M.K. Stalin Criticizes TVK Government as AIADMK Supporters Join DMK in Vanagaram

DMK president M.K. Stalin criticized the newly formed TVK-led government on Sunday, June 28, 2026, accusing it of failing to address power outages, deteriorating law and order, and farmers' protests. Speaking at a political event in Vanagaram, Chennai, where hundreds of supporters of former AIADMK Minister P. Benjamin officially joined the DMK, Stalin claimed the state has begun heading downhill within just one month of the new administration.

Stalin alleged that industrial establishments are now hesitant to invest in Tamil Nadu due to a decline in safety and stability. He cited a rise in sexual abuse cases, a narcotic drug menace, and robberies, claiming that members of the ruling party were the accused in many of these crimes.

According to Stalin, the previous DMK government had made Tamil Nadu the second-largest economy in India, formulating welfare schemes that benefited all sections of society. He stated that confidence in the DMK administration had previously drawn national and global investors to the state, creating numerous employment opportunities.

"But now there has been a change in government. Within one month, Tamil Nadu has reached a situation where it is heading downhill," Stalin said. He added that instead of addressing power cuts and protests by farmers, the new government was trying to divert public attention.

The event highlighted a political shift, with hundreds of opposition supporters defecting to the DMK. Stalin noted that while members of opposition parties typically switch to the ruling party after a general election, many are now joining the DMK despite it being in the opposition. He stated that these members were joining for the party's ideology, believing that only a strong DMK could protect the state.

Stalin concluded by saying that the responsibility of protecting Tamil Nadu rests with the DMK, emphasizing that the party has witnessed many victories and defeats and would not allow the state to deteriorate.
