Lotte India Clarifies No Ban on Choco Pie Following Durg FDA Action

Chennai-based Lotte India, a subsidiary of South Korea's Lotte Corporation, has clarified that there is no ban on its Choco Pie product following regulatory action taken by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Durg, Chhattisgarh, regarding a specific batch.
The company stated that independent testing conducted by a third-party NABL-accredited laboratory confirmed that preservative levels in the batch were within permissible limits and that the snack complied fully with applicable food safety standards.
The clarification follows reports and public concerns regarding the safety of Lotte Choco Pie after the Durg FDA initiated regulatory scrutiny. According to Lotte India, the action was confined strictly to Batch No. NM10DC2, which was manufactured on April 10, 2026, with an expiry date of April 9, 2027.
Lotte India noted that it had voluntarily recalled the specific batch as a precautionary measure while the test results were being independently evaluated. The company emphasised that the recall was limited only to that single batch and did not apply to Lotte Choco Pie as a wider product line.
Addressing claims regarding the snack, the company stated that reports suggesting Lotte Choco Pie has been banned or that the product as a whole has been declared unsafe are incorrect.
Lotte India affirmed that it will continue to cooperate with the relevant regulatory authorities and take all necessary steps to resolve the issue, reiterating its commitment to food safety, product quality, and compliance standards.
