Leaders Pay Tribute to G K Moopanar on 25th Memorial Day in Teynampet

Political leaders from across party lines in Tamil Nadu gathered at the memorial of Congress stalwart and Tamil Maanila Congress founder G K Moopanar in Teynampet, Chennai, to pay rich tributes on his 25th remembrance day.

Prominent political figures visited the Teynampet memorial site to offer floral tributes and commemorate the late leader's contributions to state and national politics.

Among those who paid homage were Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president Manickam Tagore, MDMK general secretary Vaiko, former BJP state president Tamilisai Sounderarajan, and CPM veteran T K Rangarajan. Congress leaders Peter Alphonse and Praveen Chakravarthy were also present at the memorial.

State Fisheries Minister A Srinath attended the event and offered floral tributes on behalf of the Tamil Nadu state government.

Speaking on the occasion, Manickam Tagore noted that during their time in the Youth Congress, Moopanar served as an inspirational icon for young party workers.

Former BJP state president Tamilisai Sounderarajan recalled Moopanar's political demeanor, stating that although he remained steadfast in his core principles, he never adopted a harsh approach toward political opponents.

MDMK general secretary Vaiko described Moopanar as one of the towering leaders of the Congress at the national level, noting that he consistently placed the welfare of the party above personal political aspirations.

CPM veteran T K Rangarajan commended Tamil Maanila Congress president G K Vasan for his ongoing efforts to carry forward the political legacy of his father.
