Krishnarayapuram Headmistress Suspended for Telecasting Chief Minister Event in School

Krishnarayapuram Headmistress Suspended for Telecasting Chief Minister Event in School

The headmistress of the Panchayat Union Middle School for Girls in Krishnarayapuram, Karur district, S Malliga, has been suspended from her post. The suspension was ordered due to negligence of duties and the violation of a state-wide directive regarding the telecasting of events on school premises.

The disciplinary action follows a circular issued on Thursday by the State Minister for School Education, Rajmohan. This circular laid down clear instructions that schools are only permitted to telecast the proceedings of official government events on their premises.

According to officials, the Krishnarayapuram school violated this directive by broadcasting an event attended by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay. The event, which took place in Karur, involved the distribution of job appointment orders to 41 relatives of individuals who were killed in a stampede. The fatal stampede had occurred during a TVK election rally in Karur on September 27, 2025.

Because the event was linked to the rally aftermath, the broadcast was deemed a violation of the rule against political activities in schools. Minister Rajmohan pointed out that Chief Minister Vijay himself had previously made it clear that there is absolutely no scope for political activities of any kind inside school premises.

Following the suspension of S Malliga, the Minister issued a strong warning to all education department staff. He stated that stringent action would be taken against anyone found violating the order in the future.

Furthermore, Minister Rajmohan urged all Chief Education Officers, District Education Officers, and school headmasters to remain highly vigilant to ensure that schools remain neutral spaces free from political broadcasts and events.
