Kanyakumari School Headmistress Transferred After Video Shows Students Consuming Alcohol

A headmistress of a government higher secondary school near Thuckalay in Kanyakumari district has been transferred following an incident where two students were allegedly seen consuming alcohol on the school premises.
The action came after a video surfaced on social media on Thursday showing two schoolgirls in uniform allegedly drinking alcohol outside a classroom. According to officials, the incident took place a few weeks ago, though the recording only recently circulated widely online.
Sources indicated that fellow students had recorded the incident on a mobile phone. Once the footage gained traction on social media platforms, the district chief educational officer initiated an inquiry into the matter.
Following the findings of the preliminary probe, the state education department ordered the immediate transfer of the school headmistress.
Both education department officials and the police are continuing their inquiries to establish how the students obtained the alcohol and under what circumstances it was brought into the school. Officials are also assessing whether additional action is warranted.
A senior police official confirmed that an investigation is currently underway and that authorities have secured one individual who allegedly purchased the liquor for the students.
