Kannagi Nagar Kabaddi Coach Booked For Sexually Assaulting Minor Player

The Kannagi Nagar all women police station has booked a 27-year-old kabaddi coach for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old female player on three separate occasions in the Kannagi Nagar area of Chennai. The incidents occurred between January and May this year, with the latest assault taking place last week.
The accused, who has been running a girls’ kabaddi club in the local area for several years, is currently absconding. The victim, a minor who lost both of her parents, resides with her grandmother in the locality.
According to police sources, the abuse was uncovered after the victim’s teammates noticed significant changes in her behaviour. When the teammates approached her to discuss the changes, the girl opened up to them and shared details of the assaults. She revealed that the coach had sexually assaulted her three times over the past few months.
The most recent incident reportedly occurred last week at the victim's residence. The coach allegedly assaulted her when she was home by herself. Following this incident, the girl informed her grandmother about what had happened.
The victim and her grandmother subsequently approached the local authorities and lodged a formal complaint at the Kannagi Nagar all women police station. Following the complaint, the police registered cases against the coach under three different sections, which include charges of sexual assault and aggravated sexual assault.
The accused fled the area after the case was registered and remains at large. The police have formed two special teams to track his whereabouts and arrest him.
As the investigation continues, police officials stated they plan to question all the players who have trained under the accused coach. This step is being taken to ascertain whether any other trainees at the girls' kabaddi club were subjected to similar abuse.
