Kanimozhi Demands Action Against TVK Functionary Accused of Harassment

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP Kanimozhi on Tuesday demanded immediate police action against a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) functionary accused of sexually harassing and attempting to kidnap a young woman near Kulithalai in Karur district. Speaking from Chennai, the DMK MP questioned the silence of TVK chief Vijay regarding the incident and urged him to take swift action against the accused.
The allegations are directed at the TVK Union Secretary of Krishnarayapuram. According to reports, the functionary allegedly harassed the young woman and attempted to abduct her near Kulithalai. Following the incident, a formal police complaint was filed against the TVK official, but Kanimozhi raised concerns that no significant action had been taken by the law enforcement authorities.
In a post published on the social media platform X, Kanimozhi questioned the delay in the police response. She asked why there had been no appropriate action taken against the Krishnarayapuram TVK Union Secretary despite the formal complaint.
"Why has no appropriate action been taken despite a police complaint being filed against the Krishnarayapuram TVK Union Secretary, who sexually harassed and attempted to kidnap a young woman near Kulithalai?" Kanimozhi wrote in her social media post.
The DMK MP further targeted TVK chief Vijay, stating that he must ensure immediate action is taken against the accused member of his party. Kanimozhi also emphasized the need for the TVK leadership to school its party members on self-discipline to prevent such incidents in the future.
The public demand has created political pressure on the TVK leadership to address the criminal allegations and enforce discipline among its representatives. The development highlights growing concerns over women's safety and the accountability of political party functionaries in the state of Tamil Nadu.
